City officials have closed City Hall in San Juan Capistrano after six of the city’s 87 full- and part-time employees tested positive for the coronavirus.
“Following Centers For Disease Control guidance, when this occurs, the city immediately initiates tracing and notification efforts,” City Manager Ben Siegel said on Thursday, Nov. 12. Those who came in contact are self-quarantining, he said.
“As we head into cold and flu season, the city has taken the proactive step of closing City Hall to the public to protect the health of our employees, as well as those who come to City Hall to do business,” he said.
The Community Center is also closed to the public.
Officials said City Hall services are continuing to be provided. Office staffers have already transitioned to working remotely. City Hall was closed on Nov. 6.
All those who work in the field have not been affected and continue to operate as they had.
City halls across Orange County closed to their communities after the pandemic took hold. Many still have employees working remotely.
